A delighted Aberdonian was the recipient of a GBP1000 free bet courtesy of William Hill after he placed the millionth bet on the Racing Post App. this week.

Derek Aitken, who placed the milestone wager, is one of the hundreds of thousands of punters who have discovered the ease of betting on the app. and said he had placed a few bets on Royal Ascot races, but wasn’t too lucky.

“Normally I follow a few jockeys and trainers – so I’ll probably put the free bet towards that,” he added.

William Hill and the Racing Post created the iPhone app in December 2010 (see previous InfoPowa reports). The Racing Post application, which is the most popular horse racing app in the App Store, offers betting directly from bookmaker William Hill.

Users can browse Racing Post’s news, tips and data, make an informed decision about which horse to back in a race and then place a bet simply by tapping the William Hill odds on the race card. The race can then be followed with the Live Reporter function and via William Hill radio.

“We’re delighted with our partnership with the Racing Post; we knew the app would be well received but getting to the millionth bet within the first year is fantastic,’ said Michael Byrne, Head of Mobile at William Hill.
