Smappsoft, the games developer that brought the popular 13 Card Chinese Poker app to the screens of many poker players, both pro and amateur, has announced its latest release, which it describes as ‘Pokertini – video poker with a twist.’

Available in iOS format from the iTunes store, players simultaneously play three independent video poker hands, and arrange their simulated bets to maximise payoffs on favoured hands. Strategic twists are available to manipulate cards to improve hands and the odds of winning, and as they progress, players earn badges and unlock over a dozen new twists, creating fresh challenges.

Press material from the company reveals that Pokertini enjoyed plenty of attention at January’s MacWorld/iWorld expo in San Francisco, where it was demonstrated by the company’s chief engineer, Mark Rubin.

“Video Poker is classic game played in every casino,” says Rubin. “With Pokertini: Video Poker With A Twist, we have taken the game in an exciting new direction that should make it both fun for new players, and challenging for experts.”

Features on the game, which is available as a free app, include:

* Players’ ability to strategically arrange bets across three independent video poker hands
* Dynamic simulated betting system – from 3 coins to 15,000 coins a hand.
* Bonus rounds
* Challenging Twists to unlock and Badges to earn
* Optional music and sharp graphics
* Game Centre eader boards
