Amaya Gaming Group, an online lottery development specialist operating out of Montreal, Quebec has announced that it has acquired a licence to operate an SMS-based mobile lottery in the East African nation of Kenya.

The gaming entertainment company said it will run both a number-draw game similar to 6/49 and scratch card game, both scheduled to begin operating in the second quarter.

The company has been awarded two licences by the Betting Control and Licenses Board, giving it a three year window in which to operate, chief executive David Baazov has revealed.

The Kenyan government plans to use the lottery proceeds to support sports and social projects.
