Australian internet betting giant Sportsbet has launched its new mobile sportsbook with Swedish mobile provider Mobenga, adding a suite of mobile offerings that support iPhone, iPad and Android devices.

Sportsbet has seen a significant increase in the demand for mobile solutions from its end consumers, prompting the company to invest in the mobile channel and future-proof it. The European betting group Paddy Power has a controlling interest in the company, and is a successful user of interactive technologies.

Raymond Smit, mobile manager at Sportsbet commented: “With smartphone penetration in the Australian market at 37 percent and growing, developing a mobile platform to suit this demand became our top priority. We were very impressed with the work Mobenga has provided to European betting companies and partnering with such a leading mobile development house was the obvious choice.”

Mobenga claims that the new iphone and Android clients are by far the most advanced mobile solution in Australia, a market that boasts the biggest and richest racing and sports offering.

Cormack Barry, CEO, Sportsbet said: “We’ve already seen fantastic growth since going live with this new product, with more than a quarter of our customers now enjoying our mobile betting platform. We will continue to invest heavily in the mobile betting space as we strive to provide our customers with an unrivalled mobile betting experience“

Christian Rajter, Mobenga CEO added, “The teams of both Sportsbet and Mobenga have been working very hard to deliver the most advanced and comprehensive client in the world for the Spring Carnival and have done a fantastic job! This is only the beginning of an extremely exiting journey and we look forward to together pushing the limits of the mobile media. “
