American Wagering Inc. (AWI) has announced that the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) has approved Leroy’s App on the Android platform to begin a field trial immediately.  The approval allows the company to further expand into the fast-growing smartphone industry segment.

Leroy’s, the bookmaking subsidiary of Las Vegas based American Wagering, claims to be the first licensed gaming company to enter the mobile wagering sector in the United States.  It received approval for mobile sports betting within the state of Nevada last September and in December 2010 approval from the NGCB to release Leroy’s App for BlackBerry to users in Nevada after an extensive field trial was carried out.

The application allows for a full functioning sportsbook and offers a complete menu of sporting events as well as in-game betting, propositions, and contests.

Bob Kocienski, chief operating officer, American Wagering Inc said: “The addition of the Android platform to our mobile wagering product is a significant step forward in our strategic plan to become the clear leader in the mobile gaming sector.

“The new field trial authorized by the Nevada regulators for the Android platform gives the Company two of the four major platforms to distribute the LEROY’S® APP© and we are rapidly striving to be on the iPhone, Windows 7, and tablets such as BlackBerry’s Playbook and Apple’s iPad as part of our new development path.

“This is the start of a new era in sports betting and our customers can expect to see great things ahead as we move further into the future.”

American Wagering, Inc. is a publicly-traded company that primarily operates through wholly-owned subsidiaries including Leroy’s Horse & Sports Place, Inc., Computerized Bookmaking Systems, Inc., AWI Manufacturing, Inc., and AWI Gaming, Inc.
